Information for German Shepherd Owners
With origins dating back to 1899, the German Shepherd was originally bred as a herding dog. Because of their high levels of intelligence, their strength and the trainability, they have found a home in the hearts of people all over the world.
Whether they are working in assistive positions, military and police duty, search and rescue or just enjoying life as the family pet, the German Shepherd is one of the most important members of the dog world. It’s because of this importance that I felt a need for a website dedicated to the care and handling of this magnificent breed.

Founder of germanshepherdlife.com
Hi, my name is Tim and I am the creator of German Shepherd Life. I have owned and cared for German Shepherds for most of my life. I have been a member and trained with a couple of German Shepherds. I also did IPO/Schutzhund, but I’m not active in that world anymore. I need to be able to spend my rare free time more effecient than when I was younger.
I prefer training and doing activities with my GSD by myself. On a club the dog spends most of it’s time locked up and I don’t have 6-8 hours to sit around, waiting. Please don’t take this the wrong way if you train dogs at clubs, it’s just how it feels to me. I like being active with my dog, but I don’t like hanging around at clubs.
I am passionate about the breed. I have tasked myself with sharing my over two decades of experience in the care, feeding and training. My passion and willingness to help educate others is what facilitated this website. I hope you enjoy reading along as much as I enjoy sharing my experience and stories about this very special breed of man’s best friend.
